Five-Star Baby Name Advisor: The Smart New Way to Name Your Baby

Five-Star Baby Name Advisor: The Smart New Way to Name Your Baby

Five-Star Baby Name Advisor is a unique and invaluable book for parents who want to select a name that will give their child a head start in life. It contains more helpful information about each name than any other book—starting with star ratings (like the ones used to rate movies, hotels, and mutual funds).
Most name books are basically lists of names that include origin and meaning. This unique book gives parents lots of help in deciding which name to choose for their baby. Here is a list of all the features you’ll find in the book. Notice that most of the features (marked with an asterisk) can’t be found in any other book; and two features marked with asterisks can only be found in name books by Bruce Lansky:
-star rating*
-origin
-meaning
-gender usage** (showing whether names are used primarily for boys, primarily for girls, or equally for both)
-first impressions** (what images come to mind when names are called in school or seen on job applications)
-popularity rankings and recent trends*
-spelling difficulty*
-pronunciation difficulty*
-versatility* (availability of versions of the name for informal and formal social occasions)
-the most famous namesakes
-common nicknames
-common variations
-final considerations* (pros and cons)

Garage Boy Band

Garage Boy Band

Okay... maybe boy band is a bit too pop a name for these rockers.

As far as I've found, nothing is more difficult to photograph than my 2 year old. I'm not 100% happy with this photo but it was the best we could do with an upset 2 year old who'd rather explore the garage than allow me to photograph him.

Alien Bee B800 snooted as spotlight. Vivitar 285HV gelled for background (wish I wouldn't have had this off to the right side but more even on the garage door). Vivitar 285HV left with 1'x1' softbox to fill and show the amps (I think I'd do this part differently if I get a chance to do this again. I'd like more directed light for this part).

baby boom

We don't know who these babies are. Only a couple of the pics have anything written on them at all. The one on the top left is probably from our long-lost cousins who emigrated from Poland to England instead of to the U.S. It is a picture postcard, and on the back is written:
"This is Hannah and {her?] Baby.
To Uncle Wolf."

My dad just told me that Wolf was his great-grandfather (i.e., my grandma's grandpa).

These are all pictures that my grandmother let me keep after I helped her sort through some boxes of old photos. Of course they all have stories, but I tried to group them in interesting sets.
